Mrs Ödön Lónyay, born Vilma Pázmándy

Description: The portray shows the twenty-year-old daughter Vilma (1839-1919) of Dénes Pázmándy of Szomor and Somorod, vice lieutenant of Komárom county and deputy to the Diet. Her sons were count Gábor Lónyay and prince Elemér Lónyay. The portrait is a late piece in the so-called "Lónyay portrait series". Alajos Györgyi Giergl painted this portrait after his studies at the art academy of Vienna and a study tour of Italy with fellow artist Austrian Karl Rahl. After 1857 the portraitist was showered with commissions by the most prominent families of the country.
