Created: c. 1600 Material, technology: oil, wood Size: 44 x 24.5 cm Description: The composition of the picture draws its constituents from mannerism. They can be gleaned from Bartholomäus Spranger’s Resurrection painted around 1575 (Prague, Národni Galerie), but the deviations are also informative. The painter of the small picture was obviously most deeply influenced by Federico Barocci, an Urbino master who had considerable following in Siena and Rome, too, besides his native town. The painter of the picture was of mediocre qualities. An identical composition with this picture was included in a New York auction in 1998, attributed there to il Cerano (c. 1567/70 - 1632). | |
