Material, technology: oil, canvas Size: 38.5 x 52 cm Description: The battle-pictures display kinship with the works of the great battle painters Georg Philipp Rugendas the elder and younger. Via copper etchings and engravings, their pictures became known to a wide public. They also sojourned in Vienna, and a member of the populous family, Jeremias Gottlieb Rugendas (1710-1772) worked in Pozsony. As inventories tell us, battle-pieces, depictions of scenes from the Ottoman and anti-Austrian fightings, were included in nearly every aristocrat’s collection in Hungary. | |
