Description: The picture got to the archduke Joseph Anton (1776-1847), palatine of Hungary in 1799 via his first wife who died young, grand duchess Alexandra Pavlovna (1783-1801, daughter of Russian tsar Paul I, and through family relations to princess Stefanie and her second husband Elemér Lónyay. The artist, signed as Marie, can be identified as the French paintress Marie Louise Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, who was showered with commissions by Marie Antoinette, empress Catherine II, czar Paul I, the courts of princes in Naples and Berlin, aristocrats of Austria, Poland, Russia.
