Material, technology: oil, canvas Size: 46 x 76.5 cm Description: Owing to the theme and the format the sketch was probably made for a library of a mansion or monastery. Seven allegorical figures - of Painting, Architecture, Sculpture, Music, History, Geometry, Astronomy - encircle the central figure of Wisdom. Attributing the sketch earlier to the outstanding artist of Austrian baroque, J. M. Rottmayr, research connected it to the ceiling fresco of the archiepiscopal residence in Salzburg. |  |
