Created: Roman Material, technology: marble Size: h: 26 cm, w: 20 cm, height without base: 15 cm Description: This fragment is from a statue once standing on a rectangular base. Of the left leg only the foot remains, with a fragment of the drapery originally hanging from the figure’s arm. The right leg remains up to the knee. Behind the right leg a tree-trunk was carved, with the branches indicated by incision. Between the right leg and the tree-trunk a detail of the drapery is visible. The figure was standing astride, the weight is borne by the left leg. The original function of the statue is unknown, it was perhaps a statue of a genius on an altar. | |
