Fragment of a capital

Created: ca 1100-1200

Material, technology: limestone

Size: 21 x 15 x 21 cm

Description: This simple, block-shaped cornice was carefully carved. Only the central section of one side with the adjoining upper and lower details are intact. It is not clear how this fits into the development of this type of block capital in Hungary, as early examples are shaped differently. This simple form may have been in use as late as the early 13th century.
