Created: 1220-1230 Material, technology: painted, gilt limestone Size: 28 x 23 x 15.5 Description: On the narrow side of this standing, fragmented stone slab is the remains of a console figure leaning over. On the front is a true-to-life depiction of grapevines, leaves and bunches of grapes. On the intact surface are traces of red and green paint and on the figure gold-plating. These decorations are related closely to the ornamentation of high artistic quality found on the southern door, the Porta speciosa. It clearly belonged to the shoulder console on the left side of the door, and was probably removed during the restoration campaign of 1700. | |
