Created: 1220-1230 Material, technology: painted limestone Size: 26 x 22 x 21.5 cm, abacus: 21 x 21 cm Description: Traces of red, green and yellow paint remain on the intact surface of this fragment of a slim chalice-shaped capital with two-layers of foliage decoration. It is related closely in terms of its size and type of decoration to the ornamentation of high artistic quality found on the southern door, the Porta speciosa. Its may have been originally part of the order of jambs, and was then removed during the restoration campaign of 1700. |
