Created: second half of 18th century Material, technology: oil, canvas Size: 78 x 111.5 cm Description: The size also proves that the painting was the pair of "Christ in the house of Mary and Martha" by the same painter. The manner of rendering and the types suggest István Schaller or István Dorfmeister in the first place. It can be dated to the last third of the 18th c., but its compositional models were probably earlier. The "Raising of Lazarus" as one of Christ’s miracles was usually coupled with the depiction of other miracles, sometimes decorating infirmaries, hospital wards. |
