Fragment of a knotted column

Created: ca 1220

Material, technology: limestone, h: 115,5 cm, w: bottom: 30 cm, top: 26 cm

Description: Column shaft put together from two pieces, with additions. The bottom has the original surface for joining; the top is broken. The round shafts are joined in pairs, and turn back around the middle, their curves are joined by ring mouldings. When the western crypt was excavated, the original base belonging to this column was found in situ. The certainty of this location allows us to tie the piece to the workshop of Frankish connections responsible for building the northern and western part of the church.
