Created: end of 14th century- 15th century Material, technology: red marble Size: 19.5 x 33.5 x 6.5 cm Description: The portion of the Gothic minuscule legend on this tombstone fragment reads: ...la(us) § castella(nus) § de § s... The first fragmentary letter could be interpreted in several ways, but it is surely not an s and thus the name could not be Ladislaus. There are several written sources dealing with castellans of Pannonhalma, but the tombstone does not provide enough information to identify it with any of the castellans of known name or to associate it with a hitherto unknown personage. |
