Created: 1430s Material, technology: red marble Size: picture-plane: 134.5 x 100.5 cm, the lower part with profile in relief: 142.5 x 104.5 cm, original l.: approx. 109 cm, w. of base sheet: 13-14 cm, with another 2 cm at the highest remaining part of the carved relief work Description: When the tombstone was transformed into a baroque podium the details in relief were chiselled off and only the outline remained. The fragmentary inscription reads: nicolaus § de dobo abbas § sanc[ti Martini] ...s § anno § do(mini) § m § ccccxxx. Within the same plane as the frame is the outline of the chiselled down relief work showing the figure of the abbot. His head rested on a pillow with tassels at each corner. To his right was a crosier, with the outline of the shawl (pannisellus) and next to the pillow a smaller detail from the crook. To the left of the figure is a heraldic shield which extends into the frame between the words dobo and abbas. |
