Material, technology: oil, canvas Size: 48 x 36 cm Description: The picture is entered in the old register of the gallery as Pittoni’s work, while earlier literature attributed it to Paul Troger. Lately it was connected to a drawing by F.X.K. Palko. It is more probable, however, that it is a contemporaneous variant of the Palko composition. It was general practice in the 18th century to borrow other masters’ works in full or in part, as several works of that-time Austrian masters in Hungary also confirm. The influence of the paintings and drawings of F.X.K. Palko, the descendant of Silesian painters, was considerable here, he was copied and adopted by many artists. | |
