Bird’s eye view of Pannonhalma

Created: 1875

Description: Two neo-classical architects, J. F. Engel and Packh, fashioned the library, tower, and elements of Pannonhalma’s monumental façade. They filled in the space between the fortress walls, leaving only the outer castle wall. The service building seen in 18th-century depictions is still standing in this picture as well on the south side between the two corner towers. In 1939 the secondary school was built in its place.
