Created: 1824 Material, technology: paper, watercolour Size: 44,7 x 26,7 cm Description: The inscription - The Old View of the Abbey from the West - probably means that it was made after May 1824 when the construction of the new library began on the north-west corner of the monastery. The old corner turret shown in the picture was then demolished together with the medieval dungeon topped with a baroque dome. The closed western façade of the church shows its state before the erection of the classicist tower (1828-32). The semicircular western apse of the first church was hidden behind this façade wall. On the southern side, the modest one-storey façade of the monastery can be seen. | |
