Created: 1803 Material, technology: paper, coloured ink Size: 51.6 x 31.8 cm Description: The plan must have been for the altar of the Holy Cross, which "stands in the catacomb, with not a column nor painting, merely the carved image of the Redeemer suspended from the cross." Nineteenth-century descriptions reveal that it was "made of red marble." During Storno’s remodelling campaign the completed altar was removed from the crypt and has not been located since. Its menza may be identical to that which belonged to the millennium memorial until 1995 when it was disassembled again. | |
