Altar of St Stephen

Created: 1802

Material, technology: paper, coloured ink

Size: 54.5 x 32.3 cm, supplement: 16.7 x 31.5 cm

Description: The drawing provides a view of the façade and ground plan with alternatives. On the back is the contract and receipt of sculptor Florian Hielscher and the altar builder Giacomo Adami. The altar of St Stephen built according to this plan now stands in the first side chapel to the left of the entrance to the Benedictine (formerly Jesuit) church of Győr. It must have been transferred there during Storno’s remodelling of the abbey church. The unsigned altarpiece shows St Stephen offering the crown to the Virgin Mary.
