Description: According to the 1858 edition of the Monasteriologia, the altar of the Virgin proudly bears the image of the Mother of God painted by the Viennese painter Lampi for 600 forints. The altarpiece may be based on a devotional piece. Of all the altarpieces this work is of the highest standard. Johann Baptist Lampi the younger belonged to an artistic family and was a student of Füger. He was known mostly for his portraits and paintings with mythological themes.
