Created: second half of 18th century Material, technology: oil, canvas Size: 81.5 x 51 cm Description: It is the pair of the "Erection of the cross". There is a drawn sketch in Lemberg Academy (Kühl collection) showing an identical scene to the discussed painting; it is attributed to a pupil of Maulbertsch, Josef Winterhalter (1743-1807). The large number of differences suggest that both the Deposition in Pannonhalma and the drawing may have been made after a common model. |
