Created: 1767 Material, technology: paper, watercolour, 44.5 x 135 cm Description: This watercolour by Xavér Zsoldos, a Benedictine monk from Pannonhalma, shows the view of the monastery as restored in Baroque style after the devastation of the Ottomans. It was made for the 50th anniversary of Benedek Sajghó’s taking of monastic vows. The topographic landscape also shows the Calvary Mount and the Chapel of Our Lady to the south of the hill where the monastery stands, with a genre scene in the foreground. | |
