Description: Three scenes from the Passion are depicted on the round base between the repoussé puttos: Christ stripped of his clothes, the Crowning with Thorns, Road to Calvary. In between the scenes pairs of angels flank instruments of the Passion (lance, ladder, cross). St. Martin, St. Benedict (?) and the coat of arms of the patron’s family are depicted in the three oval medallions on the vase-shaped node. On the lavishly decorated, repoussé mount, between rocaille and voluted ornaments, more instruments of the Passion can be seen (column-chalice-dice, column-rooster-nails, Veronica’s veil) depicted on the shawls held by the puttos. Between these are cartouches containing depictions of the Mount of Olives, three sleeping disciples, and Christ tied to the column. St Stephen, Mary Magdalene, and St Emerich occupy three fields amidst the equally lavish decorations of the lid, which has a cross at the top.
