Created: around 1748 Material, technology: gilded and painted limewood Size: h.: 90 cm Description: The Benedictine female saint depicted in a similar composition to St Benedict from Celldömölk cannot be from the same altar. The moulding of the clouds, the sitting pose of the female figure are not only different but also more clumsily executed, although the rendering of the drapery shows some similarity. The kindly round face is less expressive. Two different masters active in the same workshop must have carved the two sculptures. The missing attribute of the female saint was probably a book. |
