Description: A carved wooden base imitating in colour and form the earlier faiance brackets holds the Calvary group: the body of Christ was carved of several pieces, those of the Virgin and St John of a single one. The deep emotions of the faces and gestures, the minutely executed garments with ample draperies suggest a prominent master.
