Created: 1750-1760 Material, technology: linden, painted skin colour, gilt clothes, arms, feet missing Size: h.: 100cm Description: The sitting angel was made in the same workshop at the same time as the statue of St. Placid. His posture; his melancholy, contemplative facial expression; the fold of his clothes; and the use of colour are similar. It possibly adorned the altar of the chapel of the Virgin next to the chapel of St Benedict. The altar is known from the drawing of Robert Onderka made in the 1860s. The retable contains an oval painting flanked by angels and showing Mary with the baby Jesus. | |
