Description: The statue of Christ standing on a cloud probably came from the abbey church’s main altar made in 1750. The statue was covered in a thick layer of plaster. The original layer of polished chalk beneath has survived only in fragments. The fragmentary composition originally depicting the Ascension of Christ shows the figure of Christ standing weightlessly on a cloud.
